Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This privacy policy (“Policy”) describes how the “Humanize AI — Canvas Exporter” Chrome browser extension (“Extension”, “Software”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you install and use it. The Extension is published and maintained by HumanizeAI (“we”, “us”, “our”).

The Extension is designed to help students export course materials from Canvas LMS (Learning Management System) to their personal account on humanizeai.pro, where those materials can be used as reference context for AI-assisted essay writing.

By installing and using the Extension, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy and agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with it. If you do not agree with this Policy, please uninstall the Extension.

2. Information We Collect

The Extension accesses the following categories of information solely to perform its core function of exporting your Canvas LMS course materials. We apply the principle of data minimization and only collect what is strictly necessary.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be explicit about what the Extension does not collect. The Extension has no capability to access, read, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identity information — name, email address, phone number, physical address, date of birth, or student ID
• Authentication credentials — usernames, passwords, session tokens, API keys, or OAuth tokens (for Canvas or any other service)
• Browsing history — URLs visited, search queries, or web activity outside of Canvas LMS pages
• Financial information — credit card numbers, bank accounts, or payment details
• Health information — medical records, health status, or insurance information
• Location data — GPS coordinates, IP address geolocation, or physical location
• User activity tracking — keystroke logging, click patterns, mouse movements, scroll behavior, or form input on any website
• Personal communications — emails, chat messages, Canvas inbox messages, or discussion board posts (unless they are part of a course module being exported)
• Device information — hardware identifiers, operating system details, or installed software
• Other browser data — bookmarks, other extensions' data, autofill data, saved passwords, or browser history

4. How We Use Your Information

Course content accessed by the Extension is used exclusively for the following purposes:

• Course export: Transferring your course materials from Canvas LMS to your personal humanizeai.pro account, where they are chunked, vectorized, and stored for use as reference context in AI-assisted essay writing
• Export progress display: Showing you real-time progress of the export process, including which items have been successfully transferred and any errors encountered
• Course structure presentation: Displaying the course module structure in the Extension popup so you can review what will be exported before initiating the transfer

We do not use your course content for training AI models, for advertising, for analytics, for profiling, for sale to third parties, or for any purpose other than the ones described above.

5. Data Transmission and Security

When you initiate an export, your course content is transmitted as follows:

• Data is sent directly from your browser to humanizeai.pro servers over HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or higher encryption)
• No data is routed through third-party services, proxies, intermediaries, CDNs, or analytics providers during the export process
• The Extension does not execute remote code, load external scripts, or make requests to any domain other than humanizeai.pro and Canvas LMS domains
• All Extension code is bundled and shipped within the Extension package — no code is fetched at runtime

While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of data in transit, but we take all reasonable steps to protect it.

7. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, trade, license, or otherwise share your data with any third parties. Specifically:

• Your course content is sent only to humanizeai.pro servers under your authenticated session
• We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes
• We do not share data with analytics providers, ad networks, or data brokers
• We do not use your data for creditworthiness assessment or financial decisions
• We do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to the Extension’s core functionality as described in this Policy

The Extension contains no third-party SDKs, tracking pixels, analytics scripts, or advertising code of any kind.

8. Browser Permissions

The Extension requests the following browser permissions, each for a specific and limited purpose:

The Extension does not request and does not have access to permissions such as webRequest, history, bookmarks, geolocation, or clipboardRead.

9. User Control and Rights

You maintain full control over your data at all times:

• Explicit consent: The Extension only exports data when you explicitly click “Export” — no automatic or background data collection occurs
• Selective export: You can choose which courses to export and dismiss the export prompt for any course
• Cancellation: You can cancel an in-progress export at any time
• Deletion on device: Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data immediately
• Deletion on server: You can delete any exported course from your humanizeai.pro account at any time, which removes the course content and all associated vector embeddings
• Account deletion: You can request complete deletion of your humanizeai.pro account and all associated data by contacting [email protected]

10. Children's Privacy

The Extension is intended for use by college and university students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the Extension. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

11. FERPA Compliance

We recognize that course materials accessed through Canvas LMS may be subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The Extension:

• Only accesses course content that the student already has legitimate access to through their Canvas LMS account
• Does not access student records, grades, or other FERPA-protected educational records beyond course content materials
• Transfers data only to the student’s own humanizeai.pro account and does not share it with other users or third parties

12. International Data Transfers

If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your course content will be transferred to and processed on servers that may be located in a different jurisdiction. By using the Extension, you consent to this transfer. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data regardless of where it is processed.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make changes:

• The updated Policy will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date
• Material changes will be communicated through the Extension update notes in the Chrome Web Store
• Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy
